There’s something both exhilarating and overwhelming about the aftermath of a night out. The party is over, the music has stopped, and now it’s time to get home. You step outside, ready to call your ride, only to be greeted by a chaotic sea of ‘Ride hail app booked cars’. The surge pricing is through the roof, the wait times are ridiculous, and worst of all, you’re caught in a maze of identical vehicles, each claiming to be your ride, but none of them actually are. But amidst this chaos, there’s a hero—That car you booked ahead of time, waiting calmly at, or close to, (It’s blocked by a badly parked Toyota Aygo) the pre-arranged spot, just as promised.

LED main beams accidentally lighting up Prius after Prius, half-closed windows hiding vaping drivers, and all, are yelling out their names, your names, EVERYONES NAMES. You scan number plates of Toyota after Toyota, the rain sets in, The frustration mounts as your phone keeps telling you the ride is just “arriving soon”but the car never seems to appear…..

And then there’s that sinking feeling: you’re not alone in this nightmare. Everyone else in the crowd is in the same boat, anxiously tapping their phones, hoping their ride will somehow appear. Although we have our, personal feelings, about hard working drivers being able to earn a living wage and the barriers they face when working with such large companies, Not to mention the ongoing issue of pushing drivers into getting out of town licenses that don’t benefit the local authorities of towns and cities where they work. License in Wolverhampton? WV get the license fees.. you get me?
